Eugene Family YMCA to Offer Warmth, Power to Those Without Due to Historic Snowfall

Feb. 28, 2019 – The Eugene Family YMCA has opened its doors to the

community to offer help to those affected by the historic snowfall in Lane

County throughout the past week.

The Eugene Family YMCA will be open through Sunday, March 3, to anyone

needing a warm place, a hot shower, power for charging a phone or

computer or simply a distraction from the monotony of being snowed in.

Unless otherwise noted on our Website, the Y is open from 5:30 a.m. to 10

p.m. Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 8

p.m. Sunday.

“Thousands in our community are without power and looking for a safe,

comfortable place to rest while emergency crews work to fix power lines,”

said Brian Steffen, CEO of the Eugene Family YMCA. “At the heart of the Y’s

mission is building and supporting community. We embrace this opportunity

to open our doors to help those in need.”

Typically, non-members would purchase day passes ($16 for families, $10

for adults, $3 for youth) for access to the Y. Donations to the Y are always

accepted to continue responding to changing community needs.
